The sand pits lie in the dune area northeast of the Etoshapan, which is reported on the SWA series 1976 Skin 1818 Karakisa as the Okavango Reserve. The puts lie on the road that Gerber and Gass followed in 1903 (map of Dr Hartmann). We find the declaration of Mr Krenz linguistically well accounted for. Kohler 1958 Karibib 43's O.A. 'The Social Sub-Unit of a Settlement is The Kraal (Nama ǀǀ Gaus). IT is Generally Situated at Some Distance From The Neighbouring Kraals and is Occupied at a Primary Family and in Most Cases at An Extended Family ... 'The first memberǃ Gau-, is as Namaǃ Gao- in the meaning of base , Foundation, cf. Kr. 1969 NW 91. The name does not come on later maps tea.
