A\Xarra Restorative Justice Forum

The A/Xarra Restorative Justice Forum was established at CAS in 2018 as a co-design knowledge and research partnership with a number of Civic and Traditional Khoi and San structures. It has functioning research commissions in land, language, human remains, women and youth. It has also recently established a Covid 19 research commission. It has played a leading role in transformation initiatives such as: Within the University of Cape Town: The naming of the Sarah Baartman Memorial Hall; and The establishment of the certified Foundation Khoekhoegowab Language Course. Within the broader society: San & Khoi language revival where the language was erased due to colonialism; Challenging the Amazon development of the Two Rivers Urban Park; The protection of the San & Khoi people’s human rights The A/Xarra Restorative Justice Forum plays the critical role as a community partnership in setting up the San & Khoi Centre and this digital archive. This digital archive is a response to the request from the A/Xarra Restorative Justice Forum in the dialogues from 2017 into the present to create a knowledge archive of erased and endangered southern Africa languages as part of the restorative justice against colonialism and linguicide.
