Shamila Abrahams

Shamila Abrahams started her career as an Occupational Therapist within the areas of adolescent mental health and addiction recovery. She has 10 years experience working in transformational education and the transformation of education at the level of basic education in South Africa. In 2014 she began her career trajectory to indigenous knowledge preservation. Subsequently she completed her Postgraduate Diploma in Library and Information Science at UCT in 2015. Currently, she is employed at the San & Khoi Centre, UCT where she is the digital archive manager for the Centre. In this capacity she is also responsible for the development of the Centre for African Studies Digital Archive. Shamila is also busy completing an M.Phil in Digital Curation where her research area is the decolonisation of knowledge and the preservation of indigenous knowledge with an emphasis on tacit knowledge preservation.

por Shamila Abrahams começou sua carreira como Terapeuta Ocupacional dentro das áreas de saúde mental adolescente e recuperação de vícios. Ela tem 10 anos de experiência trabalhando na educação transformacional e na transformação da educação no nível da educação básica na África do Sul. Em 2014 ela iniciou sua trajetória de carreira na preservação do conhecimento indígena. Posteriormente, ela concluiu seu diploma de pós-graduação em Biblioteconomia e Ciência da Informação na UCT em 2015. Atualmente, ela trabalha no Centro San & Khoi, UCT, onde é a gerente de arquivo digital do Centro. Nesta função, ela também é responsável pelo desenvolvimento do Centro de Estudos Africanos de Arquivo Digital. Shamila também está em vias de concluir um Mestrado de Filosofia em Curação Digital, onde sua área de pesquisa é a descolonização do conhecimento e a preservação do conhecimento indígena, com ênfase na preservação tácita do conhecimento.
