Description
Houses the UCT Child Guidance Clinic that was opened and named after Isaac Albow in recognition of his donation which made it possible to make substantial extensions to the Clinic. Albow was a well- known businessman, a city councillor for 30 years, director of several companies and founder of the Maitland and Keurboom Sports Clubs. In the terms of his will, UCT was given R200 000 for the establishment of a Chair of Rheumatology in 1968. Further to this, the postgraduate Albow Scholarship was founded in 1972 in terms of the will of Phillip (Isaac's brother) and Isaac Albow who bequeathed the sum of R6 736 to the University. The scholarship was important in its time as it was open to students of all races, with R4491.20 allotted specifically to 'coloured' students and a further R7859.60 to the City of Cape Town for more scholarships.
