MILITARY RECORDS
The archives of the South African National Defence Force, housed in a new complex outside Silverton near Pretoria, hold the service records of Jews with Parow connections who volunteered during the Second World War. Some of these are extensive, including those of Leib (Louis) Lerer, who was awarded the Military Medal for his heroism in the Western Desert, and who later built the Talmud Torah in Parow.
